HOW TO STYLE A DENIM JACKET 5 WAYS

                                 05-fall-2015-ready-to-wear-street-style-10

I’ve always had an affinity for denim. Not to the degree of Justin-Britney circa 2001 MTV VMA’s status, (never forget) but I do enjoy the occasional denim hued accessory from time to time.
Alright, I won’t lie. I’m full-blown obsessed. It’s totally my go to outerwear of choice. Unlike a blazer or leather coat, the denim jacket is low-maintenance. It’s the underdog of jackets and I simply don’t think it gets the recognition it deserves.
The timeless quality of the denim jacket is what makes it such a closet staple. There’s something so effortlessly chic about the coveted classic. The denim jacket is cool in the “I basically just rolled outta bed and threw this on” kind of way. You look fabulous without even trying. Life goal accomplished.
Sometimes, a girl needs a little inspo. Here’s my favorite denim accessory styled 5 ways:
The Style: Vintage
The Attitude: Bare-faced with Converse

This is the ultimate day off look. You can run errands, meet a friend for coffee or jet off on a plane – all the while, effortlessly killin the street style game. Low-key and oh so flawless.
(Side note: How adorable is Jessica Hart? We’d totally be friends.)
 The Style: Tied
The Attitude: 90’s nostalgia meets girl next door

I’m such a fan of a good waist party. Belts are overrated; sleeves are where it’s at. It sort of screams tomboy cool in the most understated way possible. Top it off with your go to sunnies, white jeans and a striped tee. Boom.
You’re Sunday brunch approved and ready to bottomless mimosa it up. This can easily transcend to a nighttime look with the swap of your favorite strappy heel. If you’re feeling extra girl boss, finish it off with some red lip realness.
The Style: Oversized
The Attitude: Girly grunge proper

I’m dying over this expertly styled travel ensemble. This is meant for a day where you may endure a lot of walking and you’re going for the cute yet polished look but you know, sups cas. Like you didn’t really try but you totally did.
The denim jacket that works best for this look is an oversized cut and gives this look all kinds of badass vibes.

The Style: Draped
The Attitude: Road trip on top + cocktail chic waist down.

I’m loving this juxtaposition of two worlds in one. This girl is probably waiting for her Uber to go meet a friend for drinks and looks so dang chic I can’t handle it.
When your outfit is already at 100 but you might be cold and you don’t want to fully commit to wearing a jacket, just sling it over your shoulders. Fashion blogger approved!

The Style: Cropped
The Attitude: Confident, sassy and all around babe city

The denim jacket somehow acquired a bad reputation of being anti-sexy. I’m totally not okay with this stereotype.
I’m happy to report that this look totally proves that theory wrong. Denim isn’t just a daytime thing. It’s actually a totally acceptable addition to date night. Cropped styles do well here and the subtle mix of neutral colors really allow the denim to do its thing. You look confident, like a woman on a mission.
Now go get em’ girl!
