LONDON — We already know that in fashion, it's all about the revenge of the nerds. And to further this notion, shoe designer and proud geek, Nicholas Kirkwood, has unveiled 10 pairs of shoes that will make any child of '80s era video games squeal with glee.
Celebrating his own decade in the biz, Kirkwood's '10' collection, offers a smorgasbord of lust-worthy nerdy shoes inspired by geeky pop culture moments of the eighties including: Pac-Man, Star Wars, and Back to the Future, among others. Kirkwood, who shares the same birth year as Pac-Man (1980), says he wanted to pay homage to the era of Atari and create a sexy yet playful shoe collection in a nod to his childhood.[This collection] explores the concept of being 10-years old again and the excitement of discovering something for the first time," Kirkwood says in a release. "Many big defining moments in pop culture have a strong influence on me, but growing up in the 80's, the culture of arcades, toys and films was the first I actively participated in, and it's this energy I wanted to recreate."
The good news is the made-to-order collection is now available, but won't be shipped until March of 2016. Check out the site here to get a piece of the action.
